Georgia, Not On Their Minds

It has been two weeks since the Russia invaded Georgia and the peace train is still at the station. No word from code Pinko uh... I mean Pink or any of those other pacifist so called peace advocates. I have not seen any organized protest outside any Russian embassy or the UN.

Truth is, I didn't expect any so I'm not disappointed. These observations serve to validate what I believe about most "peace advocates": That is they hate the United States and take advantage of every opportunity to show us how much they do. They have no problem with communism, totalitarianism, or brutal dictators, their objective is to turn our entire country into San Francisco complete with dancing and weekly concerts by groups like Peter Paul and Mary, Joan Baez and Arlo Guthrie on the white House Lawn. The irony is they care nothing about peace, they're pacifist who don't want the US to project its power as a force for good in the world. They would like nothing more than to turn the Unite States into Switzerland and to have our army replace their helmets with those ridiculous UN blue ones.

Pacifism is particularly vexing to me because its based on nothing, it does not have a foundation in Christianity or Judaism. Far more people would die in the world if pacifist had their druthers and that makes them dangerous in my estimation.

Leave it to you to beat up on a pacifist. (Which is easy since they keep turning the other cheek)
BTW, I think Jesus would disagree that Pacifism has no foundation in Christianity. Jesus himself was a Pacifist. Sermon on the Mount comes to mind, if you want to know more about Jesus' views on the subject.

I think Code Pink is more interested in how the US behaves, especially in re Iraq. So, it is a little silly to want them to protest the actions of some other government. That's like watching the Olympics and being irritated with the Basketball team for not even trying to win gold on the Balance Beam. I mean, they're all athletes, right? No, they have a more specific purpose.

While I am no Pacifist myself, I think they serve a good and necessary purpose in the public discourse. War should always be the last resort. Because of their particular point of view, it is possible that, Pacifists may approach an International conflict in a way that a war monger would completely miss. As a nation we need to hear from both (and many other groups) and decide what is the best course. The best course rarely comes from either of these extremes but I am interested in hearing their points of view, understanding their motivations and considering their solutions.

Generally speaking, I'd rather get drunk in a pacifist bar than with a bunch of Hell's Angels. Not only are drunken brawls unlikely, I'm guessing the chicks are hotter (if you like the librarian type)
