Abolish The Congressional Black Caucus

The recent sideshow which was the CBC's visit to Cuba in which they slobbered all over the Castro regime, has validated everything I believe about this pathetic crowd: It should go the way of the 8 track. I won't mention the fact that its members are elected to serve all of its constituents, both black and non-black. I have yet to figure out what its purpose is. It appears nothing more than an exercise in black group think which is all to common in our community. Many of us cannot seem to function less we wrap ourselves in the false security blanket of blackness; hence the reason for associations of Black Nurses, Policemen, Firefighters, Social workers, Skiers, Sports agents and MBA's just to name a few. This organizations only purpose-as is most other race based organizations- is to make its members feel powerful or relevant, no matter how powerless or irrelevant some of them actually are.

The National Association of Black Social Workers once refused to allow a white man into one of its meetings because of the color of his skin. I beg to ask what does being black have to do with family services or Firefighting for that matter? The Congressional Black Circus-as I like to call them- is the most comical group of Blacks since the early days of the Harlem Globetrotters. The key difference is when the Globetrotters traveled they intended to be a joke. Any organization that would allow Cynthia "No Security" McKinney is worthy of contempt. Illinois Congressman and former Black Panther Bobby Rush fawned over Castro calling him the "ultimate survivor". Well someone should tell Mr. Rush that its easy to survive when you kill your opposition or throw them in jail for life. Rush was joined on the trip by Democratic Reps. Mel Watt (NC), Emanuel Cleaver (MO), Marcia Fudge (OH), Mike Honda (CA), Laura Richardson (CA) and Barbara Lee(CA) who foolishly boasted "we were free to speak, we were free to travel..." Is Congresswomen Lee this naive? I would like to remind the congresswoman that the citizens of Cuba have no such rights. They are not allowed to use the Internet and are paid in a limited local currency akin to food stamps for which they can only buy $20 worth of basic goods per month.

The delegation called for an end to the 50 year old embargo against Cuba which was imposed after the Castro took over in 1959. The US is the only country in the world that does not trade with Cuba and yet it remains an economic basket case. Could it be the fact that its controlled by communist totalitarian thugs? During their visit, these moral giants made no mention of the political prisoners rotting in Jails or the fact that the average Cuban's income is just a few dollars above that of Calcutta, India. These same pretenders, who have had nothing good to say about President Bush-personally or professionally- absolutely gushed over Castro. Using words such as "engaging" and raving about his "sense of humor". The democrats make a living with gross exaggerations of poverty and suffering in the US. However when faced with a golden opportunity to address real poverty and suffering they instead choose to kiss Castro's ring. I guess they wasted all their bravery on attacking Bush.
