You Big Dummy!

(Sorry,I had to go to the Sanford & Son reference)Please tell me this is a bad dream. Please tell me that one of the brightest lights in the conservative movement didn't lie to his staff, wife and family that he was going "hiking" when in fact he was in Argentina on a rendezvous with another woman. This can not be happening! On the heels of Senator John Ensign's revelations that he too had an affair with a staffer, Governor Mark Sanford of S.C. admitted his transgressions today in a rambling press conference.

Sanford touched off a minor controversy when he disappeared for several days under the guises that he "needed a break" and was going hiking in the Appalachian trail. No one knew Sanford's whereabouts, including his wife or staff. Sanford has admitted it was all a lie. He had flown to Argentina to visit his Latina mistress. Maybe he was just trying to see if Latina women are as "wise" as Supreme Court Nominee Sonya Sotomayor said they are. Maybe she was giving him private tango lessons? Maybe she makes a mean Guacamole dip? Sanford didn't creep the typical way, like ordering a hooker to your hotel room or having a tryst with some hot staffer. He had the cajones to sneak away, jump on an airplane and leave the country entirely- as if he wouldn't need his passport stamped-talk about chutzpa! This woman must do a mean tango.

Sanford as a Governor was just what the Republican party needed. A fiscally responsible, small government Reagan conservative. He was one of the few Governors who spoke out against the Obama administrations massive spending programs and stimulus packages-he even boldly refused to accept federal funds. He was often mentioned among possible 2012 Republican presidential candidates. Sanford is also, ironically what the party did not need which is another sex scandal. The democrats are in power not for anything they actually represent.

The Republicans over the past decade have not acted as such. The fiscal irresponsibility and lobbying scandals have demoralized the base. As the Republican party sits in a better position in the midst of the Obama administration wrapping its tentacles around every sector of the economy, this has left the door wide open for a true conservative to emerge from the ashes. At least for short term this will shift the conversation away from the important issues the conservatives were trying to focus on. As bright as Sandford is, he will be completely marginalized by the left. Its no doubt a matter of time before he's forced out of office by very angry S. Carolina Republicans, who have zero tolerance for these kinds of things. The last several years have seen Governors Jim Mcgreevey(NJ), Elliot Spitzer(NY) and now Sanford brought down by sex scandals. Sadly Sanford was on his way out anyway because of term limits. He need not fear Liberals marginalizing him because Republicans will RIGHTLY do it for them... Just as I thought Bill Clinton should have resigned Sanford SHOULD resign now.

He has disgraced himself, his office and the good people of South Carolina.

BP Crisis Brings Out Radical Left

Once again the left, with the help of Jesse Jackson shows its ignorance of and hatred for capitalism. The BP crisis which began with the explosion of an offshore oil rig which resulted in a fire that killed 19 people. The pipe located one mile undersea began to spew oil into the gulf and has for over fifty days now. The Reverend has been for weeks calling for a boycott of BP. Now comes word that several BP stations have been vandalized. The fact that such vitriol and anger results from what was clearly a tragic accident is surely tragic in itself. Someone should explain to the reverend that oil companies exited the gas station business years ago. The stations are by and large owned by franchisees and independent operators who squeeze out razor thin margins on gasoline-hence the reason for the lottery tickets, potato chips and soft drinks that has become a staple of these often family owned businesses. The old saying "Too many chiefs and not enough Indians" is by modern standards politically incorrect. However there is a new phenomena that is could take its place. There seems to be too many Kings and Queens and not enough subjects. Peruse Facebook and one will see untold references to "Black Kings" and "Black Queens" which is intended to foster self esteem in the black community. What is wrong with this one may ask? It is built on a ridiculous premise, historical ignorance and grotesque revisionism. For starters, every culture at one time or another has been ruled by monarchs. So by this logic every Anglo British citizen is a King or a Queen since they still have a symbolic monarchy today. Kings and Queens are mere titles-not character traits. Monarchs were selected by either bloodline or bloody conquest. Some of the most dastardly rulers in history were Kings. King John, Herod, Leopold, Caligula are just a few-African rulers were hardly an exception. I
