Must Have Been the Scotch Whiskey

News of the release of convicted Pan Am 103 bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi by the Scottish Government is Truly disgusting. In 1988 Pan AM 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland killing 259 people, mostly Americans. There were also 11 killed on the ground. al-Megrahi, a Libyan was released on "compassionate grounds" by the Scottish authorities because he has prostate cancer. "Compassion and mercy are about upholding the beliefs that we seek to live by, remaining true to our values as a people, no matter the severity of the provocation or the atrocity perpetrated," Scottish Justice Minister Kenny MacAskill said when announcing his decision in Edinburgh. No matter how many people you massacre, the Scots will show you love. I was expecting him to break out into a rendition of John Lennon's imagine.

This is a completely boneheaded not to mention weak and nonsensical move by the Scots. You sentence a man to life in Prison which usually means he will die in prison. You then release him early because.....he's dying? If you release a man because he's dying then why sentence him or anyone to life in the first place? I have always felt that Europeans were wussies when it came to facing down evil, now I'm convinced. Not surprisingly, al-Megrahi received a heroes welcome in Tripoli. Maybe he'll get his own reality show, a terrorist version of The Apprentice.
