Misbehaving While Black
When blacks are presumably unfairly stopped by the police in certain neighborhoods has long been termed Driving While Black. In recent years many blacks have been challenged while shopping and assumed not to have money to afford certain purchases. This was highlighted during a much publicized incident involving Oprah Winfrey while shopping in Switzerland-which is now termed Shopping While Black. Every black person-right or wrong has a story of being followed while shopping; or claims of being questioned by clerks about the cost or their capability to pay-suspicions that have plagued blacks for decades.
Unfortunately these stigmas have been hijacked by propagandist in order to obfuscate truly degenerate and often times criminal behavior which is taking place throughout America's inner cities. Case in point: "The Knockout game" whereby groups of blacks youth sucker punch random strangers in order to render them unconscientious with a single blow. This crime wave have taken place in many cities around the Northeast and even resulted in the death of at one 46 year old man in Jersey City. This type of barbarism is in fact no game at all. And neither are the myriad of other negative pathologies that are swelling the nations prisons and cemeteries. There are the thousands of gun deaths that takes place in Chicago, Newark, D.C., Baltimore, Philadelphia and dozens of other cities. Then there are the so called "bash mob" robberies whereby hundreds of black youth converge on convenience and retail stores and overwhelm them with mass theft. For the past two years Chicago's magnificent mile have been dealing random assaults and robberies in its swanky shopping district. There silence on these issues has been deafening from the civil rights establishment since the crimes have been largely committed against whites. Why the silence? Perhaps because it simply does not fit the narrative that the black left and the mainstream have crafted: That blacks are largely victims of racism and violence at the hands of whites. The inconvenient truth is that this destructive culture we continue to display becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. It breeds more incarceration, violent deaths, aggressive policing and other actions we rail against such as racial profiling. No amount of marching, voting, or rallies by Jackson or Sharpton will change our situation when its our thinking that is at issue. Once ones thinking changes, behavior follows.
For black elites to ignore the disproportionate amount of crime that blacks commit in this country is at best irresponsible and at worst insidious. After all, they have to insure that they meet their quota of voters to deliver to the democratic party. They would not achieve this by actually telling blacks the truth now would they?
(Note: As I was writing this, I received a text that my young cousin was killed while playing with a gun in his bedroom. He was 18)
