Minds Are Wasted And It's A Terrible Thing
There is a very old theory that people often see what they are or what they are not. It is said that women who want to have children will see pregnant women everywhere. Men who are balding will see all the men with flowing hair in the room. If one spends any significant time on social media, it is clearly evident that the ability to think clearly and discern facts from opinion has become extinct.
Many of us are familiar with the concept of projection. Whereby one assigns his or her character flaws onto others. Ever met a thief that didn't believe everyone else was crooked also? I have had the pleasure attending the Republican convention in my hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. There have been those in the mainstream press and blogosphere who have fabricated incidents of alleged racism such as a "white" elevator sign at the convention arena. Failing to note the colors of the other elevators were red and blue. Then there was the imaginary Hitler salute by talk show host Laura Ingraham during her speech. A woman who is a mother of two adopted children from central America. Another vile example of the left's racial tourette syndrome. Several blogs that masquerade as legitimate news sources picked up this non story.
These fantasies reveal something deeper about the left in addition to their blatant dishonesty. Inexplicably they truly consider themselves to be better human beings than those of us on the right. After all they care about the poor, women/ minority rights, children and the elderly. And conservatives want to starve your children and throw your grandma of a cliff as a notorious campaign ad once suggested. Former DNC chair and Presidential candidate Howard Dean once said: "Our counter distinction to the Republicans is that we don't think kids should to bed hungry at night".
Very few Democrats are capable of winning the war of ideas. Their entire playbook consist of painting Republicans as racist, homophobic misogynistic whites who loathe poor people. Social media on any given day is a journey into the abyss of the human mind. 99% of the opinions expressed on current events, history or politics are completely divorced from facts or in many cases reality. Two of the most diliterious forces in society are television and the University. The mainstream press has conjured up a fictitious narrative of police shootings of black men, women's pay gap, and income inequality which has reignited racial and political tensions reminiscent of the 1960's. The University through its social justice curriculum which includes courses on "white Privilege" has turned out a new generation of socialist revolutionaries as opposed to one with marketable job skills.
I like to refer to this generation as "generation indoctrinated". Ironically it is the product of the information age. Although there are wonderful benefits to having all sorts of data at our fingertips, the hate, misinformation, and propaganda is certainly the bitter side of this overall sweet technological advancement.
