Tiger's Secret Is Out

Image
Right on schedule every few months or so there is a sex scandal involving a celebrity. Just three months ago we had the David Letterman revelations about sex with his staff members. Now to every one's shock Tigers Woods is the latest celeb who has been caught with his pants down. It seems as though everyday a new woman is being linked to Tiger's wood. Am I shocked that a handsome multi- millionaire superstar has a few honey's on the side? No. Am I condoning it? absolutely not. What I am most disturbed about is the media's never ending fascination with these kinds of stories and the phony women who think he's the worst guy on earth when many of them have fooled around with someones husband. Superstar celebrities have no shortage of opportunities to bed the hottie of their choice since money, power and fame are aphrodisiacs for most women. The number of women if given the opportunity who wouldn't give Tiger the tail themselves is very small. The irony is that th...

Time To Be Heard Was About Time

Image
The recent Glenn Beck Program which featured an audience filled with black conservatives was a long time coming. Yours truly was fortunate enough to be a participant on the show and it was a great experience. It was so refreshing to be in the presence of knowledgeable people for a change. Unlike my normal experience of being surrounded by clueless Obama cool-aid drinking liberals. I had conversations with brilliant minds like Robert Broadus, a candidate for political office with whom I had an engaging debate about Abraham Lincoln. There was a noticeable excitement before the show as evidenced by the many conversations going on. Most conservatives do not have the opportunity to speak to those of like minds given the fact that 90% of blacks are born and raised left wing. The term "black conservative" is still somewhat problematic for me. Given the fact that I am very familiar with our history in this country and that the term conveys some sort of irony. The real irony is that g...

Who Are The Real Enemies of Islam?

Image
The latest incident of violence involving a Muslim will undoubtedly stoke a heated debate as well as a backlash. As I heard the earliest reports of the shooting, I distinctly remember the sinking feeling that he would have an Arabic name. As someone who has an Arabic name and was born Muslim, I find myself in a perpetual state of cringe. As a child growing up in the inner city, the name Khalid was unheard of. People would often ask the origin, how its spelled, or if I was Muslim. I also endured my share of ridicule for not having a traditional. Names like Rayshawn , Darnell, Tyrone and Derek were considered normal. Then in the 1980's and 90's during the age of hip hop, rappers took upon Arabic names like " Rakim " and Queen " Latifah " in order to convey some sort of consciousness, or knowledge of self-whatever that means. As a result Arabic names became popular and names like Malik , Jabril , and Khalil were more common to the average American- this was h...

Is The Recession Really Over?

Image
The economic apparatchik of the Obama administration have been shouting to the rooftops that the recession is over. What's the evidence? The recent economic data says that the economy grew by 3.5% in the last quarter-making it the first time the economy grew in a year. Under normal circumstances it would be reason to celebrate however this isn't one of them. The reason is that the aforementioned 3.5 % isn't real growth-it's fake growth fabricated by the economic stimulus and the cash for clunkers program. The problem with government spending is the moment it stops, the economic benefit stops as well. Real economic growth comes from the private sector and small business job creation. In spite of this bump up in GDP, it has had little effect on the job numbers which remain flat at 9.8%. I think that in spite of the unemployment numbers and the slow economic growth, the democrats will continue to use smoke and mirrors to keep up the illusion of recovery until the midterm e...

How We Got Here

Image
The Brutal murder of teen Derrion Albert last month in Chicago has once again sparked a national debate about urban youth violence. Albert, a clean cut and by all accounts decent young man was beaten to death by a mob while on his way home from school. The horrific murder was caught on a cell phone camera by a bystander. This debate seems to happen every few years or so. Chicago has certainly had many of these incidents over the past decade due to their out of control gang problem, which has been so since I was a child spending summers there with my father- who has lived there for close to thirty years. This incident could have happened in any large or midsized city in America. African American males all across the countries inner cities are filling up prisons and cemeteries at alarming rates. How did we get to this point? Can these negative trends be reversed? Sadly, I would have to say no. The proverbial toothpaste is out of the tube. Since the 1960's, each generation has gott...

The Russian Reset (back)

I remember just a few months ago, The Obama administration promised to "reset" US and Russian relations that were damaged under the Bush administration. Obama threw a bone to the Russians and scrapped the missile defense shield last month which was initiated by the Bush administration. This was not welcomes news in Poland. The Polish press has ripped Obama for abandoning them in order to gain favor with Putin. For quite sometime, the US has tried with no success to convince the Russians to put pressure on Iran in order to slow its nuclear program. Some liberal commentators, such as Fox news contributor Marl Lamont Hill praised the move and was assured that Obama would not have made such a move without a quid pro quo deal in place on Iran. The administration has egg on its face for the second time in as many weeks when the Russians at least for now balked at the idea of sanctions on Iran, calling them "unproductive". So it appears the administration has given up...

How To Destroy The World

American foreign policy is much maligned by the left. They think that American by and large is a force for evil and not for good. They believe that if only the so called American Military industrial complex would be reigned in, the world would be a better place. Well I say lets give the left what it wants. Lets do what Ron Paul and other Libertarians want: a total non- interventionist foreign policy. I offer you ten ways to destroy the world. 1. Pull troops out of The DMZ in Korea. This would be a delight for Kim Jong Ill. He would be free to scare the pants off of the South Koreans which could possibly put an end to the cease fire. 2.Pull troops out of Japan. This would leave Japan with virtually no protection against the pending N. Korean aggression. Also, China would be free to expand its sphere of influence. 3. Withdraw support for Taiwan. Tear up the protection agreement with Taiwan. Then stand by and watch them be gobbled up by China like a tic tac. It is no secret that China wan...

The America I Used to Know

As a nation America is no longer competitive-we have become fearful that some people may fail. So in comes Uncle Sam with with big government solutions to insure that everyone gets something-even those who contribute nothing. Health care, education and soon pell grants have become rights . It has been proven that giving people something for nothing does them or society no good. Sports, the last bastion of competitiveness and personal development has been tainted by liberalism. Little league baseball scores are reset if one team is winning by a to large a margin. Some school districts have resorted to using purple ink pens instead of red to mark student papers. Red is considered to harsh. Others districts have banned dodge ball. The Obama administration has ushered in class warfare like no other before it. There is this culture of bashing the rich which creates a perception that people are rich because they exploit the poor. America used to be built on hard work and diligence which the...

Schoolhouse Barack

Image
The outrage regarding Presidents Obama's speech to the school children last month was met with ridicule by the left. After all, how could anyone object to the President of the United States telling America's school children to stay in school, study hard and not make excuses? Many don't know that there was a larger agenda-which was changed when the backlash began. The plans to have the children write essays as to how they were going to "help President Obama" were scrapped due the controversy. Now we have another more clear example of how Obama automatons in the teachers unions are indoctrinating America's children. The latest controversy surrounds a video whereby approximately 15 young school children are shown singing President Obama's praises while chanting Barack Hussein Obama- incidentally , a middle name that his opponents were chided for using during the campaign. Speaking of his campaign, I remember seeing Obama's face on a television commercial...

Will You Still Want To Play Doctor?

There is a famous commercial from a few years ago where a guys says "I'm not a doctor but I play one on TV". Well pretty soon playing a doctor will earn you more than being a real one. After the soon to be passed health care bill takes effect, the medical profession will lose not only many practitioners but also prestige. The Canadians have traditionally come to the US seeking higher pay which they cannot obtain in their own salary capped government run system. Polls suggest that some doctors will either retire or leave the profession altogether. I don' think the administration has asked themselves where will all the doctors come from to treat the extra 20 million people on the system? For those who use the cliche " we are the only industrialized nation without universal health care" should consider the facts: Canada has approximately 33 million, roughly the same as California. Denmark and Sweden have less than 10 million people respectively. The US has po...

Not Crazy For Fox

Image
Dear Mr. Olbermann I have watched your show/network a few times over the past couple of months and It is evident as to why you're a perennial ratings loser. Approximately 50% of your coverage is spent either attacking Fox news or insulting the intelligence of Sarah Palin, George Bush, Glenn Beck and other conservatives/ Republicans. It is not difficult to figure out that one source of your bitterness is the fact that Fox news consistently kicks your far left behind every single night in the ratings. Perhaps if you spent a little more time on actual substance, you could one day climb out of the ratings basement. The obsessive attacks on your competitors points of view is all the more ridiculous when one realizes that Rachel Maddow, Chris Matthews and your own show are just as left leaning as Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly and Glen Beck are right leaning. You also might want to try another novel concept, its called debate. Nothing is more boring than to listen to the same tired l...

We Are The World

Image
The sad news about this weeks developments at the G-20 summit in Pittsburgh- besides the quintessential moronic protesters and vandals- is it has given conspiracy theorist everything they had hoped for. The so called G- 20 nations, made up of the wealthiest nations in the world agreed to form a sort of economic alliance whereby each nation will be subject to "peer" reviews allowing each nation to have a say in how the others run their economy. Also, there was an agreement struck to reign in the pay of bankers. So, the United Stated has entered an agreement to allow the Chinese to have input into our economy? The leaders allege that this co-operative will help to prevent further economic meltdowns. The conspiracy theorist say that this is the emergence of the new world order that they have been predicting for the past 30 years. I have felt from the beginning that Barack Obama is a globalist, who at his core longs to be loved by and in lockstep with the "world community...

No Spin Zone

I has a discussion with a dear friend regarding what I thought was President Obama's ill advised comments about the Kanye West debacle. During an off the record moment while preparing for an interview Obama referred to Kanya as a "jackass". My assertion was that out of all the things going on in the world why would the President of the United States even comment on such pop culture none sense? I felt that it was certainly out of his "context" to comment on such a matter. I do not think he should have commented at all. My friends opinion was that it wasn't that big of a deal and that it was only an issue because it was leaked on Twitter by ABC news who was conducting the interview. Well, it feels great to be validated. When asked by ABC's George Stephanopoulos about the recent ACORN scandal. Obama responded with "It's not the most important issue in the country, Its not something I am paying that much attention to". Wouldn't that have...

Kanye West: All The (out) Rage

Image
Rapper Kanye, hip Hop's resident Brat has a well deserved reputation for drama. His outburst during the Hurricane Katrina telethon is legendary. West went off script ranting about the alleged racism of the rescue effort and media coverage and uttered now infamous comment "George Bush don't like black people". Not to mention his other diatribes at award shows about of his perceived slights by the music establishment. This past weekend at the MTV music video awards West outdid himself when he interrupted country singer Taylor Swift's acceptance speech for best video and gave a"shout out" to Beyonce stating she "had the best video of all time". West' hijacking of the 19 year olds moment the spotlight from Swift has earned him an avalanche of scathing criticism for inside and outside of the entertainment industry. Even our President took time out from the health care debate and his work on the economy to weigh in- reportedly calling West ...

The Politics of Disrespect

Image
I am beginning to think that one of the side effects of Obamania is memory loss. The firestorm that has erupted after Congressman Joe Wilson's outburst during President Obama's Health care address to a joint session of congress. The disputed point made by Obama that seemed to spark Wilson's Ire was the issue of weather or not illegal immigrants would be covered by the public option under Obama's heath care plan. The President says they would not in which Wilson responded with " you Lie"! The actual truth is somewhere in the middle. While illegal aliens would be able to purchase any health insurance run by the Government, they won't be subsidized by the feds to do so. On the other hand, I don't know how in the world Obama thinks the Government will enforce it.This same Government has not been able to prevent prison inmates from receiving stimulus money. The Republicans introduced a bill that would require anyone seeking insurance under any government p...

Mass Media Manipulation

Image
I have held the belief for quite sometime that the more television news one watches the less informed one is. The non-coverage of the Christian-Newsome murders in Knoxville is a classic illustration. Chris Newsome, 23 and Channon Newsome 21 were out on their first date. According to news reports, Christian and Newsome had gone on a date at a local restaurant on Saturday, January 6, 2007 but did not return home. During their night out the couple was hijacked, bound, blindfolded and taken back to Lemaricus Devall 'Slim' Davidson's rented house on Chipman Street where they were tortured. According to trial testimony of the Knox County acting medical examiner, Newsome was repeatedly raped and then blindfolded, gagged, arms and feet bound and his head covered. Barefoot, he was either led or dragged outside the house to a set of nearby railroad tracks. He was shot in the back of the head, the neck, and the back, and his body then set on fire. Christian's death would come ...

Capitalist Pig?

Image
I'm sitting at home Saturday night watching HBO's 24/7- A boxing series which provides an in depth look at the training camps of fighters as they prepare for big upcoming fights on the network. The fighters being featured are Floyd "Money" Mayweather and his opponent, Mexican superstar Juan Manual Marquez. The cameras followed Mayweather as he visited a local shelter and handed out lunches to the homeless- a noble act indeed. However, what caught my attention was "money" Mayweather's Che Guevara T-shirt. Guevara, served as Fidel Castro's Ed McMahon during the Cuban revolution and has become somewhat of a mascot for the entertainment Liberal left in America. There is so much Irony here to point out. First, Mayweather- who according to Forbes Magazine- has earned over $70 million in purses throughout his career-wears a T-shirt which features a Marxist who is by definition anti capitalist. Mayweather in fact owes his lavish and flashy lifestyle t...

Artificial Intelligence

I what may prove to be a deathblow to the relationship between the White House and the CIA, Attorney General Eric Holder has appointed a special prosecutor to investigate alleged abuses against terrorist suspects during the Bush administration. The blow back from this ill advised enquiry could be catastrophic to not only the country but to Obama's re-election hopes. Contrary to what many conspiracy theorist believe, The need to assassinate political figures with guns in America is no longer necessary- The media can do a much cleaner job. A few untimely leaks to a few well placed sources will do the trick. As you would expect, this news wasn't well received over at the agency. To make sure they were completely neutered, team Obama diminished the agency's role in conducting interrogations and turned that job over their bitter rivals at the FBI-which is like Brett Favre leaving the Packers to play in Minnesota. Just like his attempts to close Guantanamo prison, this is purely ...

Must Have Been the Scotch Whiskey

News of the release of convicted Pan Am 103 bomber Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi by the Scottish Government is Truly disgusting. In 1988 Pan AM 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland killing 259 people, mostly Americans. There were also 11 killed on the ground. al-Megrahi, a Libyan was released on "compassionate grounds" by the Scottish authorities because he has prostate cancer. "Compassion and mercy are about upholding the beliefs that we seek to live by, remaining true to our values as a people, no matter the severity of the provocation or the atrocity perpetrated," Scottish Justice Minister Kenny MacAskill said when announcing his decision in Edinburgh. No matter how many people you massacre, the Scots will show you love. I was expecting him to break out into a rendition of John Lennon's imagine. This is a completely boneheaded not to mention weak and nonsensical move by the Scots. You sentence a man to life in Prison which usually means he will die in pri...

Health Care: Obama's Waterloo?

There is something ironic about the British and the French warning the United States about universal health care. The U.K's representative to the European Union Daniel Hannan has done just that. Under the leadership of finance minister Anders Borg, Sweden is reversing its history of cradle to grave entitlements and universal health care as they move towards a more free market based system. I never thought in my lifetime that Sweden would be moving towards capitalism as we are moving away from it. Obamacare is proving to be as divisive to this administration as the Iraq war was to Bush's. The president's goal of taking the health care bill to vote before August recess has gone up in smoke-primarily due to the lack of clarity in the bill. One may also blame the confusion amongst the democrats-the senate isn't exactly in love with the so called public option while the house won't do without it. The public outrage demonstrated at the townhall meetings has struck fear a...

With Friends Like These

There was much hype during the early days of the Obama administration about how he would help "restore our image in the world". The liberal narrative was that George Bush damaged our relationships with our allies(I have yet to see what allies they were referring to). The Obama administration in its haste to make nice with Syria and Iran has all but spit in the eye of our longstanding and lone ally in the middle east: Israel. The administration has demanded that Israel stop building settlements in disputed and predominantly Palestinian east Jerusalem, which Israel annexed from the Palestinians during the six day war in 1968. In classic Obama fashion, his view of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is one of moral equivalence. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stood his ground which has caused minor tension with administration. There have even been street protest in Isrealis against Obama which has gone unreported by our mainstream media. The naivete of this administrat...

Cash for Suckers

The latest gimmick that the Obama administration unleashed is the "Cash for Clunkers" program. It awards cash to individuals who trade their cars in for a more fuel efficient one. The administration seems to think that this sideshow will jump start the auto industry and the economy. It may be well intended, however its not real growth. When the government stops spending the demand will drop off again. The program has faced a backlash from car dealers and auto mechanics. Like typical Liberals, this administration has not met a government program they didn't love are ecstatic. Let's see if they are just as happy a year from now.

Waiting on The World To Change

Image
The line from the hit by pop singer John Mayer comes to mind every time I hear Al Sharpton, Georgetown Michael Eric Dyson or the latest educated celebrity fool, Harvard Professor extraordinaire Henry Louis Gates speak about "having honest conversations about race in America. They believe that law enforcement will change their behavior before we do- they have it backwards. Respect, just as with individuals comes from the inside out-not the other way around. In black America our culture in the inner cities over the past forty years of crime, violence, buffoonery and belligerence has made it almost impossible for us to be viewed with respect from just about any other society on earth. The worst among us unfortunately has made it difficult for the best among us. I must say however that in my humble view the so called "educated" among are the worst offenders. They in spite of their illusion of brilliance are largely ineffective in convincing the masses of blacks that "c...

The Enemy Within

Image
I write this particular piece with a great deal of anger. For those who know me, boxing is and has been a major part of my life since I was 7 years old. It began with watching Ali fights in television in the late 70's. Then at the age of 13 I began a 7 year amateur career. The past several weeks have been the darkest in the sports history with the untimely deaths on three great champions. Three weeks ago, ring legend and native Nicaraguan Alexis Arguello took his own life with a gunshot to the head. A week later blood and guts warrior Arturo Gatti was strangled and beaten to death allegedly by his wife in Brazil while he lay passed out in a drunken stupor. If those events weren't tragic enough, Saturday night current Jr. Middleweight champ and former Olympian Vernon Forrest was shot to death in Atlanta in an attempted carjacking. This latest act of savagery perpetrated against one of boxing's good guys further illustrates the sick culture in which many black men choose to...

Deadly Consequences

Image
As the facts have come in surrounding the shooting death of former NFL star quarterback Steve McNair, the story becomes even more troubling. The official word is murder suicide committed by his 20 year old mistress Sahel Kazemi. McNair left behind a wife and four sons ages 5 to 17. Rich and famous men having affairs with young women is not new. However this is the first one that I can recall ending this way. Married men all over the world are re-thinking their "arrangements" I'm sure, although I'm not so sure it will change their behavior. Men can be so hypnotized by the "cat" that even if we knew we stood a chance of getting taken out, some would still take the risk. No one knows what was going on in McNair's marriage, nor is it important now. What we do know is the effects of his choices will have long lingering consequences-specifically for his children. Kazemi's fatal flaw was buying into the lie that many women do: he will leave his wife to b...

Palin bids Farewell, For Now

Image
In a surprise move, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin announced she was resigning from office in order to "move the team to victory". Palin has been the subject of over a dozen ethics by Democratic hatchet men-all of which she has been acquitted of. However these probes are not without a price tag-Palin has rung up about $500,000 in legal fees defending herself as well as another $200,000 in state funds. Palin, speaking at a press conference from her lakefront home in Wasilla, Alaska, said that she wanted to "take a stand and effect change, not just hit our head against the wall and waste valuable state time and money." The opinions are split of whether it was a good or bad move, at least on the Republican side. The Democrats as you would expect think it ranks just above Watergate in terms of damage to the party. What do I think? Nothing yet. Palin will regroup, make a ton of money on the speaking tour, pay off legal fees, galvanize her base- which is huge and make a run ...

Wow! What a Life

Image
The sudden death of Pop megastar Michael Jackson for me really didn't sink in until the morning after. Its very difficult accepting the death of someone that you've grown up with and who was so rooted in American culture. Michael Jackson as well as the Jackson family are like the Kennedy's American Royalty. Michael Jackson was on this earth for a very short time and he certainly made the most of it. From his early run with the Jackson Five to his history shattering solo career the entertainment world will always have his footprint. Because of Michael, simply standing on stage and cranking out tunes won't due-you have to "bring it"! Selling a mere million albums won't get it anymore, you got to move millions ! His masterpiece Thriller forever broke the mode by selling over 100 million copies to date! I'm sure his death will make that figure even more unreachable. Hundreds of sold out concerts in scores of countries, billions of dollars in merchandise...

You Big Dummy!

Image
(Sorry,I had to go to the Sanford & Son reference)Please tell me this is a bad dream. Please tell me that one of the brightest lights in the conservative movement didn't lie to his staff, wife and family that he was going "hiking" when in fact he was in Argentina on a rendezvous with another woman. This can not be happening! On the heels of Senator John Ensign's revelations that he too had an affair with a staffer, Governor Mark Sanford of S.C. admitted his transgressions today in a rambling press conference. Sanford touched off a minor controversy when he disappeared for several days under the guises that he "needed a break" and was going hiking in the Appalachian trail. No one knew Sanford's whereabouts, including his wife or staff. Sanford has admitted it was all a lie. He had flown to Argentina to visit his Latina mistress. Maybe he was just trying to see if Latina women are as "wise" as Supreme Court Nominee Sonya Sotomayor said they a...

LA Lawless

Image
Once again our nation, more specifically the great State of California was embarrassed. Only this time it didn't involve OJ Simpson. After the Lakers clinched their 15th NBA championship by defeating the Orlando Magic, some of the Neanderthals disguised as fans went on a thuggish rampage in the streets outside the staples Center. Police cars and cabs were damaged , windows were smashed, stores were looted and there were 25 arrest-and this happened after a victory! I have never understood this type of "jubilation". Growing up I was a huge boxing fan and never after a Sugar Ray Leonard KO did I get the urge to go out and smash windows at the local McDonald's or throw bricks at passing trains. Not all of this of idiocy can be blamed on the-a a-a-a-a-alcohol because I'm almost certain I'm sure some of those losers have been career vandals. Everyone knows the guy who is just looking for an excuse to tear some stuff up. Whether his teams win or lose he's ready t...

GOP Ego-nomics

Image
A couple of months ago, a national controversy erupted when it was suggested by Democratic operative James Carville that the leader of the Republican party was Rush Limbaugh. The message was foolishly countered by RNC Chairman Michael Steele who dismissed Rush as "an entertainer". The debate continues within the party as to who the leader of the party is. The party is indeed out of sync with the trouncing it received in the last two elections. The hard core conservative crowd is at odds with the "bigger tent" wing who feel as though the party needs to be more "inclusive"-which to me means compromising. I have an idea on who the spokes person should be: Republicans. The party can and should come to a consensus and promote a unified message-when the party nominates its candidate for 2012, he or she will become the face of the party and sell that message to the American people. I would like to see "old School" conservatives like former speaker of t...

Home Grown Crazy

Image
Tuesday, an anti Semitic psychopath opened fire at the Holocaust museum in Washington D.C., killing a security guard, who managed to shoot and wound the gunman. The Killer was a known white supremacist and Jew hater. Last week in Little Rock Arkansas, a African American Muslim convert shot two US soldiers, killing one in retaliation for what he calls the murder of innocent Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan."I do feel I'm not guilty," said shooter Abdulhakim Muhammad. "I don't think it was murder, because murder is when a person kills another person without justified reason." Also last week, late term abortion doctor George Tiller, known as the "Tiller the baby Killer" was gunned down while attending church in Wichita Kansas by mad "right to lifer" Scott Roeder(pictured). I hope this remind those of us who are race obsessed that they are living in a fantasy land of ignorance. There is evil among us and we have no idea in what form it will co...

Talk Like an Egyptian

Image
President Barack Obama delivered his highly anticipated speech in Cairo today. The President touched on several issues that he feels have caused deep divisions between Islam and the West. I must say that as someone who thinks his speeches are grossly overrated, I was somewhat surprised in that this speech contained a little more substance than usual. Of course, it consisted of the routine pandering and empty slogans about common ground. However I credit him for his straight talk to the Palestinians about renouncing violence. I did have a few problems with the speech which goes to the heart of my core criticisms of the president. In typical Obama fashion he engaged in duplicity. He greeted the audience in Arabic, his speech was littered with references to his Islamic roots, and his Christianity- things he shied away from during the campaign. Why is the President so comfortable with speaking about god and his religion while abroad but not here at home in America? I find it disturbing tha...

Fashion None-Sense

Image
I have noticed more and more over the past couple years a very disturbing fact. A large percentage of black men are dressed like bums and or Hoodlums. When does one ever notice a polished or decently dressed African American male under the age of 40? Its nearly impossible to find a young black male whose fashion ideology has not been touched by Rocca wear or Ekko. Hoodies, sneakers and the dreaded saggy jeans hanging off the behind are trademarks or many young blacks. Unfortunately its not a purely urban phenomena. Its hard to distinguish between urban and suburban dwellers. Young black men from all socio- economic classifications are "rockin" their gear as well as a fair number of whites. Who is to blame for this madness? Obviously the entire hip hop culture, which encompasses music, fashion, and language...or lack thereof. I place the blame squarely at the feet of Russel Simmons who is to hip hop fashion what Howard Stern is to shock radio. Simmons has made millions with h...

Abolish The Congressional Black Caucus

Image
The recent sideshow which was the CBC's visit to Cuba in which they slobbered all over the Castro regime, has validated everything I believe about this pathetic crowd: It should go the way of the 8 track. I won't mention the fact that its members are elected to serve all of its constituents, both black and non-black. I have yet to figure out what its purpose is. It appears nothing more than an exercise in black group think which is all to common in our community. Many of us cannot seem to function less we wrap ourselves in the false security blanket of blackness; hence the reason for associations of Black Nurses, Policemen, Firefighters, Social workers, Skiers, Sports agents and MBA's just to name a few. This organizations only purpose-as is most other race based organizations- is to make its members feel powerful or relevant, no matter how powerless or irrelevant some of them actually are. The National Association of Black Social Workers once refused to allow a white ma...

AIG and the Bogus Bonus Debate

Image
When it comes to the media, I must give the devil his due. The AIG bonus debacle is just another example of the mindless American public falling victim the media hysteria machine. Our government decides to bailout a giant corporation with taxpayer dollars and at the same time tell them what they can't do with the money. Let's think about this: If I borrow $1,000 from a friend to help get my out of credit card debt, then it makes no sense for my Friend to give me the money and then tell me not to pay the credit card company. If my friend objects then they shouldn't give me the money. When the bailout was approved, what obligations did the feds think AIG had? Financial institutions are on the hook half the time to other financial institutions. My problem with the bailout is our federal government who allow the same circus performers on our financial services committee to bungle once again. This is solely where the public anger should be focused. Chris Dodd, managed to tell t...

D.C. Hogs Have Nation Over a Barrell

Image
In spite of Obama's promises to reign in earmarks and wasteful spending, the $790 billion alleged stimulus bill is full of it-in more ways than one. Some of the more ridiculous items are $1.7 million for a honey bee laboratory in Weslaco, Tex.; $346,000 for research on apple fire blight in Michigan and New York; and $1.5 million for work on grapes and grape products, including wine.Filipino veterans, most of whom do not live in the United States, will get $200 million in compensation for service in World War II.....Huh? And by shear coincidence, the bill provides $8 billion for high-speed rail projects, for example, including money that could benefit a controversial proposal for a magnetic-levitation rail line between Disneyland, in California, and Las Vegas, a project favored by Senate Majority leader and head hog Harry Reid. I'm sure it's just a coincidence. I'm sure that $500 million for global warming research will provide plenty of jobs for displaced auto workers....

What's The Matter With Illinois?

Image
There seems to be something in the water being consumed by Illinois politicians. After the circus which was the Rod Blagojevich investigation and impeachment, his replacement- who "Blago" personally handpicked-Sen. Roland Burris is now himself embroiled in an ethics probe. Burris has come under fire for his admission that he tried to raise money for the former Governor-a fact that he failed to mention under oath...oh, boy! Senator Dick Durban confirmed that a senate ethics investigation was underway. Even staunch supporters of Burris are now asking for him to step down-including several black Chicago ministers. Burris held the obligatory self humiliating press conference where he denied he did anything wrong. Has there ever been anyone ethical that's come out of Chicago Politics? We'll have to wait a little longer to get an answer to that one. This is just one more bad apple from a rotten Illinois political tree.
